Our Local Economy

Our community needs truly affordable housing that fits the needs of our communities and starts to put an end to the homelessness crisis plaguing our city and our district.

For Fiscal Year 2021, the NYC Department of Housing Preservation & Development (HPD) has a preliminary budget of $1Billion. $218 Million of that budget is designated for the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA). HPD relies heavily on federal funding, with 83% coming from the federal government for 2021.

I attended a budget hearing earlier this year because I believe it is vital for working people in our district to be in the room when matters of housing are discussed. We deserve a seat at the table and for our needs to be heard. The budget is an important governing document that shows what the values of our city truly are.

As your next Council Member, I promise to be a present and passionate force for our communities. We will finally have real representation at City Hall that is accountable to the people.
